Hi, I am Dr. Carol Lieser, a PhD nurse who practices psychiatric mental health care at In His Image Psychiatry. I am educated to be an advanced practice registered nurse and am certified as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In this role, I am able to diagnose and treat mental health disorders by prescribing medications or providing and facilitating other management of these issues. I work in collaboration with Dr. James Montgomery, M.D.  Together, we provide care to all age groups from four years old into the adult and senior years.

My education includes a Bachelor’s from Berea College in Kentucky and a Master’s degree from The University of Texas at Arlington in nursing with Master’s level specialty studies in pediatric primary care and a Post Master’s certification in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan. I also have a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from St. Mary’s College of Ave Maria University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I received a PhD from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2012. My dissertation work was related to adolescent depression issues and I have published articles on depression management in pregnancy and managing depression in those with chronic kidney disease. I have given talks at several conferences on the new DSM5, on managing depression in kidney disease and on schizoaffective disorder. Currently, I am the Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at UTA’s College of Nursing, where I facilitate the education of other psych mental health nurse practitioners and chair PhD dissertations and DNP projects for degree seeking nurses.

In my private practice, I have experience and will provide you with excellent and compassionate care for many concerns. Among these are bipolar, major depression, anxiety, OCD, and trauma disorders, as well as addictions, schizophrenia, and other forms of psychoses. I manage children and adolescents with ADHD, behavior problems, anxiety, and mood disorders. I provide medication management for neurocognitive disorders of some forms of dementia. This practice also has three psychotherapists, both English and Spanish speaking, who are available for referral and counseling issues.

As we work together to achieve optimal mental health care for you, my primary aim is to share with you the joy of realizing you are an individual of great worth. We are meant to be whole individuals, worthy of all good, and deserving of respect and dignity. As we travel together in our sometimes chaotic and challenging world, I wish for you good mental health!
